  Introduction

Welcome to the SileneWebproject !

This pages will give you an overview on our research that we have done in the last years on the genus Silene (and other Caryophylloideae). Our idea for this WebProject is to give a fast access to all the information that we have gathered on the pollination biology and floral scent chemistry of Silene species in the last years.

The SileneWebproject is organized as follows:

START: This is the start page and gives you information about the WebProject and the information you will find.

ADDRESSES: Gives you our current mailing list

INFORMATION: These pages will give you information on different aspects of Silene biology based on our results of the last years. You will find a lot of pictures of different Silene species, information on pollination biology (e.g. nectar, floral scent, pollination, breeding system, reproductive system) and finally pdf-files of publications.

PROJECTS: Current research projects running at (or at least in cooperation with) the Department of Plant Systematics, University of Bayreuth (Germany). Many of the projects are related with Caryophylloideae but there are so many other fascinating things...

TECHNIQUES: Here we will show you the methods we use (especially to investigate odors)

COOPERATIONS: Our cooperation partners - without them we could not answer many of our questions and life would be much harder, thanks to all of them !

We hope that this WebProject will help you when starting with research on this fascinating plant group. We would be grateful for any critics, suggestions and discussions on these pages!
